The death threats for the V-22 program became stronger after the Marines were forced to reveal that they had been using several different means of calculating readiness. One Marine general reported that readiness (the percentage of aircraft available for duty at any given time) had improved to 73%, but when a different (more detailed) system is used the actual number is 47% (and dropped to 8% on one particular day). --Stephen V Cole
