The British Army has quietly asked for pricing on LAV 8x8 wheeled armored personnel carriers. This may indicate that the British are considering withdrawal from the Multi Role Armored Vehicle program (a joint program with Germany and the Netherlands), or replacing it in the APC role with LAVs. Such replacement would eliminate more than half of the 1,388 MRAVs the British had planned to order. There is concern that the MRAV is too big and expensive for the APC role.--Stephen V Cole
