Alvis Vehicles is to build 300 Multi-Role Armored Vehicles for the British Army. This is a boxy 8x8 armored car to be used for various support and logistical roles where its large volume is important and its high silhouette is not a drawback. Alvis has selected the Swedish company Hagglunds to produce the weapons stations. These small unmanned turrets will mount either a 12.7mm machinegun or a 7.62mm chaingun. The gunner will remain under armor inside the vehicle. The weapon station is regarded as a self-defense measure as the MRAV is not intended to be an assault vehicle.--Stephen V Cole
