Australia has signed a contract to buy four Boeing-737s and modify them into Wedgetail airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft. The Australian military wanted to buy seven of the planes, but money could not be found. The $1.65 billion contract covers the four aircraft but includes options for three more.--Stephen V Cole
