The two contractors for the Joint Strike Fighter have been asked to consider using the aircraft for the mission of slipping through enemy air defenses to provide close-range jamming of enemy radar and communications. The JSF already has an almost unknown capability to jam enemy aircraft radars and communications with its air-to-air radar. The F-22 Raptor can do this as well. The idea would be to install more radar gear on a pallet inside the bomb bay. These could then jam air defense radars and the datalinks between air defense units.--Stephen V Cole
