Russian General Leonid Ivashov said in an interview on Norwegian TV that the radar at Vardo, in northern Norway, is illegal under the ABM Treaty and would be destroyed by a nuclear weapon in the event of a nuclear war between the US and Russia. Norway called the threat of a nuclear attack on a Norwegian city "outrageous" and said that the radar was merely for space tracking.--Stephen V Cole
