Eurofighter is pressuring the Dutch to buy the Typhoon instead of the Joint Strike Fighter, offering them a chance to participate in the Tranche-3 development program (The design of the Tranche-2, or second series, Typhoons is all but finished.). The Dutch parliament is expected to decide in September or October, about the time that the US was to pick the winning design. (That decision will probably slip to 2002 as the Bush Administration has vowed to review all of the program data.)--Stephen V Cole
