The Public Accounts Committee of the Kuwaiti Parliament has called for an investigation into the purchase of a dozen fast attack boats from France for $11 million. The first four boats were found to have serious manufacturing defects, but the government went ahead and accepted the other eight. The boats came with a warranty, but the government did not exercise the warranty until it had expired. The parliamentary committee suspects corruption.--Stephen V Cole
