Weapons: Pakistani AMRAAMs

Archives

January19, 2007: Pakistan is buying $284 million worth of American air-to-air missiles. The order include 500 AIM-120 AMRAAM, and 200 AIM-9M Sidewinder. This is the single largest export sale of AMRAAM missiles ( a radar guided weapon that will be launched from Pakistani F-16s) to date. At the moment, India, Pakistan's most likely aerial opponent, does not having anything as capable as AMRAAM. Pakistan will receive receiving the AMRAAMs between 2008 and 2011. This gives India time to acquire a similar weapon, or perhaps AMRAAM itself.
