The European Air Group was formed in 1995 by the Air Forces of Britain and France, and was later joined by Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands. Under a new agreement signed earlier this year, the member Air Forces agreed to share tanker and transport duties. This is seen as a first step toward a unified European air forces command.--Stephen V Cole
