US military operations against Taliban and al Qaeda supporters continue throughout central and southern Afghanistan. As the informant network grows, so do the number of suspects arrested. American troops are getting better at distinguishing between tips intended to simply harass an enemy and those pointing towards Taliban or al Qaeda.  

The Taliban and al Qaeda continue to make attacks on American troops, but without much effect. But continued attacks are dangerous and even the poorly trained Taliban will get lucky eventually.
