US led patrols continue to uncover weapons caches, many containing twenty year old ammunition. Afghans love to hang on to ancient weapons and ammo, with some tribesmen still carrying century old bolt-action rifles. Ammo is actually still available for these old British and Russian rifles, dating from before World War I. But when ammo is not available, local craftsmen will make it, as well as providing repair services for rifles that have been used by several generations of Afghans.
