Taliban activists throughout southern Afghanistan have increased their attempts at using terror to force people to change their behavior. Men who shave their beards off are threatened with death or mutilation while parents who let their daughters go to school are threatened with death (as are the teachers.) Villagers are generally resisting these threats, and there has been little, if any, follow up on the threats (except for burning or bombing the schools that educate girls.)
