A senior Montenegrin government spokesman said on 16 February that the Serbian Army (Yugoslav Army) is turning a military police unit deployed in Montenegro into a Serb paramilitary force. He identified the unit as the 7th MP battalion. He said the unit has more "troops (now) than it did in 1999" and suggested the unit could be used to stage a coup in Montenegro. Meanwhile, Radio Free Europe reported that Serbian military aircraft have brought TV transmitting equipment into Montenegro. The RFE report suggests that the Serbs plan on setting up their own tv station on a military base in Montenegro.
