The war between Russian border guards and Afghan drug smugglers continues on the Tajik-Afghan border. So far this year, Russian border guards have stopped 30 smuggling attempts and seized 1,240 pounds of drugs. At least ten smugglers have been killed. The 1200 kilometer long border is impossible to completely seal and most of the smuggled drugs apparently get through.
