India-Pakistan: October 23, 2000

Archives

India has ordered ten Mirage-2000H fighters from France for $328 million. These are considered replacements for Mirage-2000s lost in various crashes. Only 38 of the original 50 Mirage-2000Hs remain in service. Delivery is to start by the end of 2003 and be completed in 2004. The Indians were forced to forget plans to buy the more capable Mirage-2000-5 because it costs more than the Mirage-2000H.--Stephen V Cole
