  Pakistani's president Musharraf told his people that "armed foreigners" in western Pakistan were operating against Pakistan's interests. He did not identify these men as al Qaeda. He admitted that a dozen Americans were helping out with intelligence, but that there were no US combat troops in Pakistan.

Inside Kashmir, rebel actions left two soldiers and seven rebels were killed. A Hindu Nationalist organization is offering Hindu women in Kashmir weapons training. Moslem radicals in Kashmir have been trying to drive non-Moslems out of Kashmir by using murder and violence. 

In India's northeast, an Indian soldier was arrested for suspected links with Pakistani intelligence (ISI). The soldier was thought to be involved with Pakistani intelligence operations in Nepal.
