The US is selling Pakistan six land-based Aerostat L-88 radar systems for $155 million. Balloons take the radars up and track ground vehicles and low flying aircraft. The systems are meant to help guard the Afghan border.

In Kashmir, rebel violence left three civilians, three soldiers and three rebels dead. Both sides continued to fire artillery, machine-guns and mortars across the Line of Control.
