Former guerillas in East Timor have threatened to launch attacks across the border into Indonesian West Timor if the anti-East Timor militias were not suppressed. In the Malukus, it was generally peaceful, although some gunfire was heard in the capital of Ambon. In North Sumatra, two bombs went off. They were placed near Christian targets.
