November10, 2006: In the last 27 years, over 3,000 Iranian soldiers and police have been killed fighting drug gangs in eastern and southern Iran. The smugglers continue to get through, supplying several million Iranian drug addicts, and moving heroin on to Persian Gulf and European customers.

November 7, 2006: In the south, three Basij militiamen were killed in a battle with drug smugglers.

Russia now agrees to sanctions on Iran, to control the development of Iranian nuclear weapons. But the sanctions Russia backs are so mild as to be useless. Of course, sanctions in general have proved to be largely useless.

November 3, 2006: Iraqi border guards captured five donkeys, loaded with over 60 Russian and Italian land mines, apparently being supplied by Iran.

November 2, 2006: To protest continued UN attempts to stop Iranian nuclear weapons programs, the armed forces began ten days of well publicized military maneuvers. These began with the test firing of a Shahab 3 ballistic missile (with a range of 2,000 kilometers). About ten other missiles and large rockets were fired, with the Iranian media there to record everything.
