On January 2, 10 FDD rebels and one Burundian Army troop died in a series of clashes outside of Kirama (Kibira forest area). On January 3, FNL guerrillas killed three civilians and a Burundian Army soldier when they ambushed a two-truck convoy in northwest Burundi.
