Peace negotiations are making no headway as the LTTE rebels continue to have problems with a rebellion of their own in eastern Sri Lanka. Since the more powerful northern faction of the LTTE rebels defeated the eastern faction in late April, there have been fifteen murders in eastern Sri Lanka. The dead have included soldiers, rebels and civilians. The violence is a result of the many hostile factions present in eastern Sri Lanka (Tamils, Moslems, Sinhalese).
