The violence between the various LTTE factions has stalled the peace talks, and the LTTE increasingly believe that these factions get most of their support from the government.

October 12, 2005: In the north, two anti-LTTE school principals were murdered.

October 10, 2005: Four LTTE gunmen were killed, and seven wounded, in eastern Sri Lanka, when they were ambushed by a dissident LTTE faction.

Police upset an assassination attempt on the president, when they found a sniper rifle hidden near an area in the northeast that the president was to visit.

October 7, 2005: An anti-LTTE Tamil politician was assassinated in the capital, and his newspaper was bombed at the same time. The LTTE denied any responsibility.
