The Arab League has pledged support for Sudan in the face of threats of  foreign intervention to stop the Arab militias  attacking non-Arab Moslems in Darfur. The Arab League also pledged humanitarian support for the Moslem refugees in Darfur. Most the support for the refugees so far has come from non-Moslem aid groups.

The government says it will allow several hundred African Union troops in Darfur, but only to protect UN and African Union observers.
