The Transportation Security Administration is shoveling out money in a desperate race to have an all-Federal screener force in airports by next November. Lockheed Martin Services just got a $105 million contract to train screeners with 40 hours of classroom work, 60 hours of on-the-job training, and a "tough" final exam. Baltimore-Washington will be the first airport with an all-Federal security workforce by mid-June. Federal agents raided the three Washington DC airports in April, arresting 92 employees with access to security areas who had gained employment by false statements regarding their identity, nationality, or criminal records. Some were illegal aliens while others had false identities or criminal records.--Stephen V Cole
