The UN has threatened Afghanistan with more sanctions if the Taliban does not stop it's war against the Northern Alliance and expel Osama Bin Laden. The Taliban responded defiantly, telling the UN to mind its own business. The Taliban also lashed out at Iran for backing plots to overthrow them. There appears to be little basis for this accusation, although Iran does support Shiia Afghans (living near the Iranian border) against the Suni Taliban. Neither side will mention the religious differences.
